Secure, Reliable, and Scalable

Open Text operates a world-class datacenter, providing our customers with state-of-the-art reliability, security, and scalability in their Marketing Asset Management service. Every Open Text customer benefits from our 99.5% average per month uptime agreement as part of our standard contract. And because we know that security is an important consideration in any business application today, the Open Text Datacenter features application security that models best practices used industry-wide. In fact, Open Text provides hosted application services and digital asset storage for some of the most security-driven corporations in the world.

Below is an overview of the Open Text Datacenter features:

  • Internet Backbone Connection. Peering includes OC-3 lines to three different Tier-1 providers, originating from separate building points.

  • Datacenter Power Supply. The Open Text Datacenter has power systems with distributed redundancy to guarantee continuous operation. The overall system is N+1 redundant, including each component within the parallel electrical systems: AC and DC raceways with 2N distribution, AC power delivery via distributed redundant UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) systems. We use batteries with at least 7 minutes full load operation (diesel engine generators take roughly 8 seconds to synchronize and assume load); 48 hours worth of generator fuel; and have contracts with multiple fuel providers.

  • Environmental Controls. To provide optimum conditions for Open Text's servers and other equipment operation, an HVAC system provides carefully controlled airflow, temperature, and humidity. Redundancy features provide additional protection.

  • Physical Structure. All elements of the structure are built to withstand natural disasters:
    Building shell: Full seismic compliance.
    Exterior: Fully anonymous, no signage outside. Exterior walls tightly sealed.
    Floor: No post-tension or pre-stressed slabs.

  • Fire Suppression: Dual-alarmed, dual interlock multi-zoned, drypipe, water-based fire suppression system armed with sensory mechanisms (HSSD) to sample the air and give alarms prior to pressurization.

  • Flood Control: Built above sea level. Tightly sealed conduits, moisture barriers on exterior walls. Dedicated pump rooms; drainage/evacuation systems; moisture detection sensors.

  • Site Security. The Open Text Datacenter is staffed with 24-hour security officers to augment physical security features, providing financial-grade protection of your application and digital assets. Visitors are screened upon entry to verify their identity and are escorted to their appropriate locations. Access history is recorded for audit. The datacenter utilizes biometric hand geometry readers (manufactured by recognition systems) with a required pass code for access to specific areas. All aspects of the center are monitored and recorded via color, high-resolution digital video cameras. This data is archived to disk.

  • Data Backup and Application Reliability. All data in the Open Text Datacenter is automatically backed-up for absolute data security. There are nightly incremental backups using LTO 2 drives, with offsite storage in a secure facility. Applications are monitored 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

  • Application Security. The Open Text application layer is highly secure, with built-in security for multi-layer permissions to ensure that only authorized users enter the system. Our network is managed by industry-certified network and systems engineers. In addition, network and OS security is enforced with enterprise-class firewalls, OS updates, virus protection, and 24/7 monitoring.

  • Mirrored Datacenter. As a premium service, you can choose to have your Artesia On Demand application and repository mirrored in multiple datacenters around the world. Besides our primary hosting facility located in Ashburn, Virginia, Artesia also operates an alternate datacenter in Seattle, Washington.
